Master Potters and Artists:
GUSTAVE FREDERICK (FRITZ) WOLFF III Fritz Wolff is a retired art professor. He studied at Northland College and at the University of Wisconsin. He apprenticed under world famous Ceramicist Robert Eckels. Fritz started his own businesses, The Wimbledon Collection and Stone Fence, in 1970. The Wimbledon Collection and the Stonce Fence are known world wide for excellence in design and quality. Fritz's work includes high quality porcelain dolls. He has received some of the top design awards in the world, many times over. Hand made glass and steel works, and table top accessories are other areas in which he has become famous. Now in semi-retirement, Fritz is concentrating on his hand thrown stoneware. Unique design and high quality continue to be his hallmark.
Carsten Barchmann was born in the small East German village of Puschwitz. Puschwitz is found 15 miles from the Czech Republic, and 20 miles from Poland. His family has been potters since 1729 in the same village. Carsten was Influenced greatly by his grandfather and father, instilling strong family traditions. In 2006, Carsten came to the U.S. to advance his skills under Fritz Wolff. Since then, Carsten has worked directly with Mr. Wolff to blend his own European skills with contemporary American techniques.
